Adult Therapy

Many people come to therapy experiencing symptoms of emotional distress due to trauma, bereavement, relationship difficulties, life transitions or a desire for self-understanding and growth.

Whether from stressors that have arisen suddenly or built up over time, it’s not uncommon to feel unsure or to hesitant about therapy. You might worry that seeking help means you're not coping, or fear it makes you seem weak. But recognising your vulnerability and asking for support is actually a strength and often the first step towards change.

I offer a safe, compassionate, and confidential space where we can explore together the roots of distress, gently, at your pace. Whether you’re looking to understand unhelpful patterns, heal from past experiences or explore new ways of being, our work together will focus on reducing your emotional pain and help you to feel more balanced.

My approach is integrative, person-centred, and trauma-informed, incorporating evidence-based approaches such as EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS) where appropriate.

There's no judgment, only curiosity, empathy, and a belief in your inner strengths and capacities for healing. Often, the answers lie within and sometimes we simply need the right support to connect with them.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a gentle yet powerful therapeutic approach that helps both adults and children process difficult experiences and memories. It is especially helpful for PTSD, anxiety, panic attacks, stress, phobias, sleep problems, complicated grief, self-esteem and performance anxiety.

EMDR draws from a variety of psychological frameworks including psychodynamic, cognitive, interpersonal, somatic, and experiential therapies. It works with the body’s natural healing system, helping the brain to reprocess distressing memories so they feel less overwhelming.

When we experience trauma, the memory of the event can get “stuck,” not properly filed away by the brain’s memory system. This can leave us feeling like the distress is still happening in the present, long after the actual event has passed. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation such as eye movements or gentle tapping (like butterfly hugs) to support the brain’s natural ability to heal from trauma.

I can offer EMDR therapy both in person and online, depending on what works best for you. If online support feels more accessible or convenient, you can feel confident knowing it’s just as effective as face-to-face sessions. What matters most is that you feel safe, supported, and ready to begin the process.

Bereavement Therapy

Grief has no timeline. Feelings of loss can emerge suddenly, weeks, months, or even years after.

Many of us are unprepared for the depth and duration of the emotions that follow, and how deeply they can affect daily life.

Whether your loss was recent or long ago, it can feel overwhelming, confusing, and at times, isolating. The death of someone we love, be it a family member, partner, friend, or even a beloved pet can shake the foundation of our lives. You might find yourself feeling numb, angry, deeply sad, or even guilty. You might feel nothing at all and wonder what’s wrong with you. These are all natural reactions to loss. There is no “right” way to grieve and yet, so many people feel like they should be coping better or moving on faster.

Each person is affected differently by bereavement. While some find comfort and healing through the support of loved ones, others may feel the need for a safe, dedicated therapy space to process their grief.

I offer support and warmth, meeting you with empathy and respect wherever you are in your journey. You don’t have to explain your grief or rush your healing, as you begin when you feel ready. We will make space for your pain, your memories, your questions, and even the moments of relief or laughter that may come unexpectedly as we gently walk through your grief together.
