Parent Counselling

Being a parent is tough, even in the best of times. When things feel overwhelming, it’s easy to feel lost or disconnected from your child. You might be carrying stress from other parts of your life on top of the daily demands of parenting leaving little space to breathe, let alone reflect.
Often, parenting becomes most difficult when reality doesn’t match expectations. Many parents try to push through, hoping things will improve, until it starts to feel unbearable. The weight of it all can lead to a sense of hopelessness, or helplessness.
Parent Counselling can help with managing difficult behaviours, improving communication, building stronger bonds, and finding new ways to support your child’s emotional wellbeing while also giving you space to process your own feelings in a safe and non-judgmental environment.
Therapeutic Parenting Support

Therapeutic Parenting can be thought of as ‘Relational Parenting’, focusing on emotional closeness, co-regulation and trust. It gently builds on understanding of the brain, body and behaviour to help you see your child’s actions as expressions of an underlying need and not simply acting out.
If you’re finding your relationship with your child challenging or feeling overwhelmed by their behaviours, Relational Parenting can help you reconnect with confidence as a parent by gaining insight as to what might be driving your child’s behaviours.
An integrated strength-based approach that uses attachment informed principles from Circle of Security Parenting™, PACE Model and Filial Play Skills you will be supported to respond to your child with empathy and connection, even during the most challenging moments.
Perinatal
Mental Health

The perinatal period, spanning pregnancy through the first year of an infant's life, is a critical time for mental health. Perinatal Mental Health (PMH) covers a range of issues that may arise during this phase which can present unique challenges for new and expectant parents. Feelings such as anxiety, depression, birth-related trauma, intrusive thoughts, or difficulties bonding with the baby can arise during or after pregnancy, potentially affecting the transition into parenthood.
If you or your partner are finding it difficult to cope with the emotional changes that come with pregnancy or becoming a parent, you're not alone. Many people experience this time as more emotionally complex than they anticipated.
Recognising the profound changes, I offer perinatal-focused therapy to support parents navigating mild to moderate emotional and mental health challenges throughout this transition.
Parent-Infant Therapy

The journey to parenthood is a transformative experience, filled with moments of joy as well as challenges that require significant adjustments. Some parents may feel disconnected from their baby, not bonding as they had hoped, while others experience complex emotions about parenting that can be both confusing and unsettling.
Parent-Infant Therapy offers psychological support aimed at strengthening the
parent-infant bond. This therapeutic approach helps foster a healthy relationship, promoting both the infant's development and the parent's emotional well-being.
By observing the way in which you and your baby connect, I can better understand the challenges that you are experiencing. Together, we will explore your emotional experiences and those of your baby, noticing how they are expressed in your relationship. As we pay attention to your baby’s unique cues and feelings, we will discover ways to respond creating moments of deeper understanding, emotional closeness, and joy in your relationship.
To support your journey, I offer a variety of therapeutic dyadic approaches, parent counselling, and psychoeducation tailored to your needs.
