Massage In Schools Training

Massage In Schools Programme:
The Massage In Schools Programme (MISP) is a respected international programme which uses massage to encourage learning and to develop social and emotional skills within a safe school environment.  It is a highly inclusive programme that can be used creatively within all curriculum areas and age groups, linking current government initiatives relating to children, such as Every Child Matters.

It is a fun, whole school, preventative strategy for promoting respect and reducing bullying.

The main principles of the massage programme are to promote safe, positive and appropriate touch, which helps to develop respect and empathy to enhance relationships.

Within schools, children learn a formal massage routine of 15 strokes which is combined with the use of creative storytelling methods when using them such as ‘weather massage’ or ‘baking a pizza’.  The massage is conducted fully clothed with children sitting behind each other, in pairs, working on the back, head, arms and hands, which will take 15-20 minutes (although the effects last much longer).
